667 Leadership Theories in Action- Lana Wells and Rida Abboud
SOWK 667 was my first introduction to Transformational Leadership. Bass (1994) states that "transformational leadership has four key elements: individualized consideration, intellectual stimulation, inspirational motivation and idealized influence." It has also been defined as: "motivating people by using energy, enthusiasm and passion to sell a vision. - businesstermsdictionary.com.
Transformational leadership is a type of leadership style.
It is often explained on a continuum of:
Transformational leadership ____Transactional leadership ----------- LaisseFaire leadership.
I believe that Exemplary leadership, Servant Leadership, Resonant Leaderhip and Living Systems theory all fit nicely with Transformational Leadership. Below are examples of my reflections on leadership theory as well as a leadership development plan to guide my learning.

"Leader in its most important
sense means being the agent of your own life, influencing
the things you
care about most in the world to make it a richer life."
-Stewart Friedman, Total Leadership
669- Leading Organizations and Communities- Ellen Perrault, PhD
SOWK 669 assisted me to solidify my thoughts on the different leadership theories that have been presented throughout our program and develop my own beginning leadership framework.
I especially enjoyed listening and learning from the guest presenters that shared their practice wisdom and their own leadership frameworks with us. I aspire to be able to communicate my own framework with others in hope to inspire and motivate others as they were able to do for me.
This class assisted me in my personal critical reflection on my own values and ethics that influence my practice as a leader. I was introduced to the Living systems theory of Margaret Wheatley that has had a profound influence on how I now see the world. This will be a book I cherish for many years to come and share with others. The living systems theory assisted me to look at leadership in the context of change and complex systems.
I was challenged to critically reflect, and succinctly share my thoughts through the discussion board. This proved to be more challenging that I imagined however, it was a great opportunity to hone my writing skills and get my points across in a well thought out way. I have attached a few of my discussion board entries for your review in the attachment below.
I also was able to practice collaboration in my work environment and set realistic goals for continuing my growth as a collaborative leader in the context of a shared leadership project in my organization.
